The New York Mets lost two of three games coming out of the All-Star break but then ran off five in a row. The positive vibes subsided, though, as they split the next 12 games and lost the four most recent contests, including the series opener against the lowly Oakland Athletics.
On Wednesday, the Mets got back to the winning ways in convincing fashion, at least for one night. Coincidentally, if they had dropped another one, it would’ve been considered an emergency, but they scored 9 runs on 11 hits.
Pete Alonso ($4,900; 29 FPTS) led the way, going 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI. He hit a solo shot in the fourth inning then capped off the night with a two-run double in the seventh inning.
Francisco Lindor ($5,100; 21 FPTS) hit a solo home run in the third inning and singled in another run in the seventh inning. He finished the night with two hits, two RBI, two runs and struck out twice.
On the mound, David Peterson ($7,300; 18.05 FPTS) went 6.1 innings, struck out four, walked four and did not allow an earned run on three hits.
