Julio Rodriguez reinstated from the injured list for the Seattle Mariners

Updated:

By: Zach Thompson

The Mariners are in the middle of a pennant race in the AL West, and they’ll get a huge boost on Sunday night with the return of All-Star Julio Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has been sidelined since July 21 when he sustained a high ankle sprain colliding with the outfield fence. He has been activated and is expected to serve as the team’s DH on Sunday.

The Mariners are making their first Sunday Night Baseball game in 20 years for the Mariners, who are favored at -135 on the money line in the matchup between Luis Castillo and the Mets’ Luis Severino. The game is in the spotlight for DFS Showdown contests including the MLB $125K Sunday Night Showdown [$25K to 1st] (NYM @ SEA), and Rodriguez is very affordable at just $6,200 in a Utility spot.

Before the injury, Rodriguez was having a little bit of a down year batting .263 with 11 home runs, 18 stolen bases and a .341 wOBA. He was starting to heat up just before his injury, though, hitting .425 (17-for-40) with three doubles, four home runs and a .540 wOBA in his last 13 games.

Rodriguez is +370 to hit a home run and -240 to get a hit in his return on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Mariners hope getting Rodriguez back will give them a boost in the playoff race. Right now, Seattle is -105 to make the playoffs, and +125 to win the AL West. Coming into Sunday’s action, the Mariners are tied for first with the Astros in the AL West, and three games behind the Royals for the third AL Wild Card spot.
