While it wasn’t as easy as most of their matchups during the Olympics, the United States defeated Serbia 95-91 in the semi-finals Thursday. The United States trailed by as many 17 points, but railed back and won the fourth quarter 32-15, en route to this victory. On the DraftKings Sportsbook, the United States was a pregame 15.5-point favorite over Serbia and they were a -1800 ML favorite. However, trailing by 13 points heading into the fourth quarter, the United States was a +195 ML underdog.
Stephen Curry was the star of the show in this comeback win for the United States. The sharpshooter erupted for 37 points — which is one-point shy of Carmelo Anthony’s US team record — after producing just 29 points in all his previous games this summer in Paris. Overall, Curry knocked down 9-of-14 threes and he pulled down eight rebounds. LeBron James also had a terrific outing, tallying a triple-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, marking his second career triple-double in the Olympics. Lastly, Joel Embiid was a beast in the paint in this matchup with Nikola Jokic, scoring 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Speaking of Jokic, the big man posted 17 points, 11 assists and five rebounds in the loss for Serbia. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team with 20 points and Aleksa Avramovic also finished with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.
The United States will now meet France in the finals Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the winner taking home the gold medal. USA is favored by 15.5 points (-108) with the O/U at 176.5. The moneyline for USA is -1350, while France is at +800. If the United States comes out victorious, it will be their fifth straight gold medal win for Men’s Basketball.
