The Chicago White Sox are having a historically bad season and have decided they need a change. On Thursday morning, the team announced that they have dismissed Pedro Girfol from being the team’s general manager. After the White Sox finished fourth in the AL Central with a 61-101 record a year ago under Grifol, Chicago has been even worse in his second season this year, currently sitting a league-worst 29-89 record. The White Sox are currently on pace to finish with the worst record in MLB history and just this past Tuesday, they snapped a 21-game losing streak, which is the worst in franchise history. Grifol will finish with a brutal 89-190 record as the White Sox’s manager and the club will immediately begin their search for their new manager following this inevitable firing. Grady Sizemore has been named the White Sox’s interim manger and they announced that their final hiring will not be announced until after this season.
Chicago next plays Friday night when they host the inner-city rivaled Cubs. The White Sox are 0-2 against the Cubs this season, but maybe they will play revitalized with Grifol no longer at the helm.
