Coming off their upset win over Canada in the quarterfinals, France defeated Germany 73-69 in the semi-finals of the Olympics on Thursday, punching their ticket to the gold medal game this Saturday. France was a five-point underdog on the DraftKings Sportsbook for their matchup with Germany, and DK Network’s Julian Edlow had France to cover this line as a featured pick in his Men’s Olympics Basketball Picks article for Thursday’s slate.
After leading France in scoring vs. Canada, Guerschon Yabusele once again led the way for France versus Germany, tallying a team-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while also recording seven rebounds. Additionally, Isai Cordinier provided 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals, and Victor Wembanyama finished with 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks. While France got the victory, Rudy Gobert wasn’t a factor in his second straight game in a reserve role. In only five minutes of action off the bench, the center finished with zero points, one rebound and one assist.
On the losing end of this Olympic matchup, Dennis Schroder put Germany on his back with a team-high 18 points, while Franz Wagner posted 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Daniel Theis also flirted with a double-double, finishing with eight points and 11 rebounds, while adding three blocks.
For a chance at gold, France will now face the winner of Thursday’s semi-finals matchup between the United States and Serbia in the finals Saturday. On the DraftKings Sportsbook, the United States is a large 15-point favorite over Serbia.
