Bobby Witt Jr. hits two homers in win over Red Sox

There are heaters, then there is whatever black magic Bobby Witt Jr. ($6,500; 39 FPTS) has been doing. It’s been 36 games since Witt Jr. has not gotten a hit in consecutive games. Over that span, he’s failed to notch a hit in only three games and, in 158 plate appearances, Witt Jr. has slashed .415/.456/.711 with 12 doubles, three triples, three home runs and four stolen bases. The walk rate has been 6.3%, the strikeout rate has been 12.7% and the ISO has been a robust .296. The BABIP is an unsustainable .436, and that’s going to regress, but regression rarely happens right away in one shot.

On Wednesday, the Witt Jr. train kept chugging along, as he went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, four RBI and scored three times, leading the Royals to the 8-4 win over the Red Sox. He hit a solo shot in the first inning, had a two-run double in the fourth inning, then hit another solo shot in the sixth inning.

Vinnie Pasquantino ($4,900; 16 FPTS) hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

On the mound for the Royals, Cole Ragans ($9,000; 25.45 FPTS) went 6.1 innings, struck out seven, walked two and allowed an earned run on six hits. He did serve up two home runs, a solo shot by Danny Jansen ($3,600; 14 FPTS) and a three-run home run by Romy Gonzalez ($3,100; 18 FPTS), but that came after an error, so the ERA wasn’t dented.
