Zack Wheeler dominant in 6-0 win over Mariners

Sunday’s game between the Mariners and Phillies pitted two of the top pitchers in MLB against each, and the game produced an old fashioned pitcher’s duel.

Logan Gilbert ($9,200; 23.1 FPTS) struck out seven in six innings, did not issue a walk and allowed only one earned run on four hits. The lone blemish was a solo home run served up to Kyle Schwarber ($5,300; 22 FPTS) in the first inning. Schwarber sent a 2-0 pitch into the right field seats.

Through seven innings, the game remained 1-0, advantage Phillies.

Then the floodgates opened up for Philadelphia, as they got into the Seattle bullpen and bludgeoned it. Bryson Stott ($3,900; 14 FPTS) hit a solo shot to start the festivities. Bryce Harper ($5,500; 22 FPTS) then hit a two-run blast before Alec Bohm ($4,900; 14 FPTS) went back-to-back on the first pitch he saw. J.T. Realmuto ($4,600; 5 FPTS) finished things off with a measly RBI single.

Zack Wheeler ($9,600; 38.2 FPTS) tipped his cap to his counterpart, then metaphorically told him to “Look at me! I’m the captain of the ship!” Wheeler went eight innings, struck out nine, walked one and only allowed two hits. He did this in 96 pitches. It was a nice bounceback game for Wheeler, as he got tagged for seven earned runs in his last start against the Yankees.
