After winning the first four games out of the All-Star break, the Royals dropped four of the next five games then had to embark on a seven-game road trip. Lucky for them, though, the two series were against the White Sox and Tigers. Kansas City swept three games from Chicago and took the first game in Detroit. On Friday, it made it five straight with the 9-2 win.
Salvador Perez ($5,100; 28 FPTS) led the way, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Hunter Renfroe ($3,800; 14 FPTS), Freddy Fermin ($3,500; 10 FPTS) and Garrett Hampson ($2,300; 8 FPTS) all racked up two hits, while Vinnie Pasquantino ($5,000; 14 FPTS) and Paul DeJong ($3,100; 7 FPTS) also drove in two runs.
On the mound, Cole Ragans ($9,000; 21.15 FPTS) struck out six in 5.2 innings while walking four and allowing two earned runs on two hits. The big blow came off the bat of Justyn-Henry Malloy ($3,100; 23 FPTS), who hit a two-run homer in the first inning.
It was one of those nights for Tarik Skubal ($9,800; 14.85 FPTS), who allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings while walking two and striking out eight. In his first start against the Royals this season, Skubal went seven inning, struck out six and allowed only one earned run. In the next start, the Royals tagged him for four earned runs in five innings.
