Another day, another gold medal for the gymnastics GOAT Simone Biles.
Two days after capturing team gold, Biles took home the All-Around gold on Thursday, holding off a spirited challenge from Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade. Biles’ teammate Suni Lee earned the bronze to complete her own comeback story after a trying period following her All-Around gold-medal-winning performance at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Andrade put the pressure on Biles, delivering a stellar performance that earned her a 14.033, giving her a final score of 57.932 and briefly putting her ahead of Biles before Simone took the floor.
Of course, the most decorated gymnast in U.S. Olympic history was up to the challenge. Biles performed up to her standard of golden excellence, earning 15.066 points when all she needed was 13.867. That gave her a final score of 59.131 and her sixth gold medal (ninth overall). She also became the oldest All-Around gold medalist since 1952.
Biles was a -500 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook heading into the All-Around final with a whopping 94 percent of the bets and 84 percent of the handle. She will next compete on Saturday in the Vault final at 10:20 a.m. ET on NBC, followed by Balance Beam and Floor Exercise on Monday.
