Since being called up to the big squad, Xavier Edwards ($3,400; 34 FPTS) has been great, slashing .349/.434/.398 with a 14% walk rate and 16% strikeout rate in 100 plate appearances. He’s also stolen eight bases despite possessing only a 65th percentile sprint speed. Not all was good, though, as the BABIP has been an elevated .420 and the ISO a paltry .048. Throughout his professional career, he’s never had much pop in his bat, as the ISO has never been above .120, often languishing in the .060 range.
On Sunday in Milwaukee, Edwards said BABIP schmabip and kissed the biceps after rounding the bases because he went 4-for-4 with a walk and a home run. It gets better, though, because he also hit for the cycle!
Edwards got the hard part out of the way, hitting an oppo taco blast in the first inning. He walked in the second inning then doubled in the fifth. In the seventh inning, he got the triple then reached on an infield single in the ninth to become the 347th player in MLB history to hit for the cycle.
Unfortunately, all of the heroics couldn’t produce a win for Miami, as the Brewers racked up six runs on nine hits.
Jake Bauers ($4,100; 28 FPTS) hit a two-run home run in the first inning, then Jackson Chourio ($3,500; 14 FPTS) hit a solo shot in the fifth. Bauers also had a triple, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.
