Tennis is back on the world’s greatest sporting stage.
Well, nearly. On Saturday, July 27, first-round action commences for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In this article, I will be breaking down my favorite DraftKings Sportsbook futures bet for the men’s tournament. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Men’s Singles Tournament Winner: Carlos Alcaraz (-125)

While it may be tough to take Alcaraz to win six consecutive matches at -125, I genuinely cannot make a legitimate case for another player in this tournament. If you’re betting on a different player to win gold, you are hoping that someone else miraculously takes Carlos out so your guy doesn’t have to.
The only other two players who I even considered were Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev, but both are dealing with respective injuries and simply aren’t 100%. The reigning world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will also be sidelined for this tournament with an illness, opening the door even further for Carlos.
Alcaraz has been the definition of dominant in 2024, winning back-to-back Grand Slams. His dominance ratio — percent of return points won divided by percent of service points lost — has seen a considerable spike, jumping from 1.26 in 2023 to 1.31 this year. Virtually everything is better across the board. Total points won percentage, service points won percentage, ace rate, break percentage, hold percentage. You name the stat, he’s likely improved at it.
This will also be the first time since 1992 that the Olympics will be played on clay, which helps Alcaraz for a number of reasons. This tournament will take place at Stade Roland Garros, which is where he won the French Open fewer than two months ago. Carlos also navigates clay with incredible pace, which will be difficult for other contenders to match, especially those who are dealing with lower body injuries.
It doesn’t matter if Alcaraz isn’t technically the world No. 1. Every player on tour knows he’s the guy to beat, and the 21-year-old is in impeccable form at the moment. I expect that momentum to carry over into the Olympics, with Carlitos adding another elite accolade to his stacked resume.
