Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement”: Sneaker Release Date, Price, Where To Buy

The Olympics are upon us, starting with the Opening Ceremony on the Seine, and it’s not just the athletes who are inspired heading into the Games.

I’ve already talked about some of the sneakers that members of Team USA have been lacing up, but Jordan Brand is dropping a new colorway of its ever-popular Air Jordan 4 on Saturday inspired by the City of Lights. The Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” hits on Saturday for a retail price of $225.

The Air Jordan 4 is undoubtedly one of the most popular models in the entire Air Jordan line. I’ve written about the 4s several times, largely because they remain so popular and work well with a variety of color blockings. The Air Jordan 4 is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and we’ve already seen the return of the Bred 4s Reminagined as well as the Military/Industrial Blue 4s, which have taken their cues on shape at least from last year’s stellar Nike SB x Air Jordan 4.

Of course, the Air Jordan 4 is yet another classic from the sneaker design GOAT, Tinker Hatfield. Initially worn on court by Michael Jordan during the 1988-89 NBA season for the Bulls, the Air Jordan 4 carries over some design cues from the Air Jordan 3, such as visible air in the heel and prominent Nike/Jordan branding on the back. However, the AJ4 also features a few noteworthy departures, including the famous wings on the back toward the heel and a unique lacing system that allows for a number of different lacing patterns.

Looking at an all-grey sneaker might not initially scream “Paris,” but Jordan Brand says on SNKRS that this colorway is inspired by the city’s cobblestone streets, “evoking their rustic yet sophisticated aesthetic.” SNKRS also says the “Wet Cement” 4 features a “mix of nubuck leather and suede gives these grey hues some texture and dimension, making this monochromatic shoe fit for any ‘rue’ or avenue.” The materials, just from looking at pictures on SNKRS, look to be quite nice, at least for a Nike/Jordan retro. It should be noted that this colorway is a departure from other Air Jordan 4s as it trades its traditional netting segments for what could be described as an indented netting pattern on the suede panels where the netting would normally be found. Given that this is not an OG colorway, there is no “Nike Air” branding on heel with the Jumpman there instead. The tongue also features what looks like an “elevated” take on the traditional AJ4 Jumpman “Flight” badge and a pair of grey laces completes the look.

The Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” is already available on StockX and currently has an average price of $255 on 2,769 sales. It will be interesting to see if that price goes up once the general release comes and goes or if this will be another sign of the resale bubble bursting.
