Jacob who? Exactly. Since the start of the new year, Jacob Bridgeman ($6,700; 63.5 FPTS) missed the cut in eight of 16 events, with three of those coming in the last three tournaments. He has one top-20 finish over that span. As a result, there were not many bullish on his prospects at the 3M Open. In the $800K Summer Sand Trap tournament, Bridgeman is rostered on only 0.22% of teams.
After Thursday’s first round, though, Bridgeman is leading the field by one stroke after shooting an eight-under 63. On the front nine, he drained four birdies before bogeying the final hole, his only blemish on the day. On the back nine, he racked up five birdies with a three-hole streak on holes 12, 13 and 14.
DK Sportsbook doesn’t see the glass slipper remaining on too long, as Bridgeman is +1600 to win it all, the fifth-lowest odds of the field. Tony Finau ($10,500; 26.5 FPTS), who is four strokes back, is the current favorite at +800. Finau is also the most rostered golfer in the $800K Summer Sand Trap tournament at a whopping 39.31%. There are only three golfers rostered on at least 20% of teams and Finau is the only one above 30%.
