The Padres are currently on a nine-game road trip, and they dropped their first in Cleveland coming out of the All-Star break. Since then, though, San Diego has won four in row, including Wednesday’s 12-3 domination in the nation’s capital.
The only Padres starter that did not notch a hit was Ha-Seong Kim ($4,100; 27 FTPS), but he walked twice and scored three runs.
The big blows were delivered by Kyle Higashioka ($3,200; 26 FTPS), who hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and Jurickson Profar ($4,500; 21 FTPS), who launched a two-run shot in the second inning. Higashioka finished the night 3-for-5 with a double, that home runs and three RBI. Profar went 2-for-5 with that home run, two RBI and two runs.
Jackson Merrill ($4,200; 27 FTPS) went 4-for-5 with a double, triple, a RBI and three runs scored. Xander Bogaerts ($3,900; FTPS) was a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
On the mound for San Diego, Matt Waldron ($8,100; 15.9 FTPS) struck out four in six innings while walking two and allowing three earned runs on four hits. The one blemish was a two-run home run served up to Juan Yepez ($3,300; 16 FTPS) in the first inning.
