Cast of Deadpool & Wolverine: Cameos we know about

Deadpool and Wolverine, together — properly — on the big screen, as part of the MCU. The wait is almost over.

While Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be on center stage together, they’ll be far from the only Fox Marvel actors to be seen in Deadpool & Wolverine. There’s been a lot of buzz about who’s going to pop up throughout the first X-Men MCU film, with most of the confirmations coming from the movie’s trailers.

But if the movie’s final trailer is any indication, then there are more cameos than what we already know.

That said, there’s plenty to take stock of. Here’s a look at the Fox Marvel cameos we know about for Deadpool & Wolverine:

Pyro

Reynolds may be viewed as the man who made this all happen, but seeing Aaron Stanford as Pyro was a great way to let everyone know this movie is going to be wild.

A different actor played Pyro briefly in the first X-Men movie before Stanford burst on the scene in X2. He would play a prominent role alongside Shawn Ashmore’s Iceman and Anna Paquin’s Rogue before joining up with Magneto and Mystique at the end of X2. By the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, Pyro was regretting that decision when he learned just how much Iceman had been holding back all these years.

Azazel

Unlike Pyro, Azazel didn’t pop up in the films until X-Men: First Class. After the movie that rebooted the Fox X-Men franchise, Jason Flemyng merely made a cameo as Azazel in X-Men: Days of Future Past. He turned out to be one of several mutants that Bolivar Trask had experimented on.

Toad

Do you know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning? I wasn’t sure until 2000’s X-Men, when Halle Berry’s Storm enlightened us. Apparently, it’s “the same thing that happens to everything else.”

Ray Park has yet another character making a return under the Disney umbrella, having previously done so with Star Wars’ Darth Maul. Now he’s back as Toad after Evan Jonigkeit briefly took the reins when the character appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Callisto

Certainly one of the lesser-known characters of this bunch, Dania Ramirez’s Callisto was a tertiary character in the not-so-beloved X-Men: The Last Stand. In the comics and animated show, she’s the leader of the Morlocks — a group of mutants that hide underground, away from the persecution of humanity. However, she has lost that role in the past to Storm after the two battled it out for the position. Callisto didn’t get nearly as much depth in her lone Fox X-Men appearance, but they at least made sure Storm put her down in the final battle.

Lady Deathstrike

Alongside Pyro, Azazel, Toad and Callisto in the trailer above, there’s a set of adamantium claws that stand out. The vicious Lady Deathstrike, played by Kelly Hu, who gave Wolverine all kinds of problems in X2 is back. Will she get to sink her claws into Logan again?

Juggernaut

Despite being the largest of the bunch, he’s been on of the sneaker cameos in the marketing campaign.

Juggernaut has appeared twice in the Fox X-Men era. The second go-around came in Deadpool 2 and was received much better. That version was all CGI and voiced by Reynolds — although, his voice was modulated.

But that’s not the version we appear to be getting in Deadpool & Wolverine:

Vinnie Jones’ return hasn’t been confirmed, but that is certainly the outfit he wore when portraying Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand. Unfortunately, like many things in that movie, his performance was not beloved.

Sabretooth

Wolverine vs. Sabretooth, featuring Deadpool, again!

Sabretooth served as antagonist alongside Col. William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which, like it or not, was also Deadpool’s first appearance on the big screen. Of course, Deadpool was very much done dirty, and Reynolds made sure to get his revenge in Deadpool 2 during a credits scene.

On top of that, the Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was played by Liev Schreiber. While he wasn’t part of the problem with the movie, Schreiber was not the original live-action Sabretooth. That honor belongs to Tyler Mane, having appeared as the villain in the original X-Men.

And there’s no doubt about Mane’s involvement, having appeared prominently in one of the later trailers:

Elektra

This is the lone member of this bunch we have yet to see. The rumors had been circulating for a while that Jennifer Garner would take on this role again, then multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter that was the case.

Her first appearance as Elektra came in 2003’s Daredevil. She would then go on to get her own movie in 2005, Elektra, , which didn’t exactly receive rave reviews. However, Elodie Yung did very well with her portrayal of the character alongside Charlie Cox in Netflix’s Daredevil series.

It doesn’t seem like Ben Affleck will return as Daredevil, but Garner’s return leaves the door open for other non-X-Men Marvel characters who appeared in Fox films to make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine — like any of the eight actors who took on a role in either of the two Fantastic Four runs at Fox. (Either Chris Evans or Michael B. Jordan — or both — appearing as the Human Torch would sure stun fans.)

Deadpool’s buddies

The following group has either been seen in a trailer or been confirmed elsewhere:

• Colossus
• Vanessa
• Negasonic Teenage Warhead
• Blind Al
• Dopinder
• Yukio
• Peter
• Shatterstar

None of this is a real surprise. The one thing I’m curious to see with this group is the handling of Colossus. In the Deadpool movies, he’s played by Stefan Kapicic. In the Fox X-Men movies, he was played by Daniel Cudmore. Would love to see those two brawl.

X-23

Of all the characters appearing in this movie, this is the one I have the most hope for.

Although Dafne Keen originally told interviewers she wasn’t appearing alongside Jackman in his MCU debut while on her press tour for The Acolyte, the final Deadpool & Wolverine trailer revealed she was keeping things hush-hush.

“I had a great time keeping it secret. I had to do a bunch of press for a job that I just finished,” Keen told Entertainment Weekly. “I got asked in every interview, and I just got to lie, which was really funny.”

Keen was marvelous as X-23 when she was just 11 years old. Getting her to portray Laura (whose surname is Kinney in the comics) is promising on a couple fronts.

First, with Keen having to keep her appearance a secret, this could mean other actors who denied a return to their Fox Marvel roles may have been instructed to keep things a secret, as well.

Second, and most importantly, this could mean Keen is part of the MCU’s future. Her acting is undeniable, as well as her command for the character. Logan fans loved her. And, unlike Jackman, age is on her side.

That doesn’t mean Keen needs a ton of screen time in Deadpool & Wolverine. But of all the previous X-Men actors Disney should integrate into the MCU’s mutant phase, Keen is at worst third on the list of priorities — and she moves up to second if this is Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine.
