Pick on the Total for Rangers-Angels on July 10

The Texas Rangers are attempting to salvage the 2024 season with a lot of injured players set to return soon and get to play a Los Angeles Angels team on Wednesday that owns the second-worst home record in the American League at 18-28.

Texas Rangers (-142, 9) vs. Los Angeles Angels

Getting the pitching start for the Angels is Griffin Canning, who has a 4.87 ERA with a career-low 6.2 strikeouts per nine innings, never dipping below 8.9 strikeouts per nine innings before this season.

Canning’s fielding independent is even worse at 5.28 and he enters having allowed at least four runs in four of his past five starts.

Behind Canning is a bullpen that entered Tuesday with a 4.69 ERA, which is 28th out of the 30 MLB teams.

The Rangers entered Tuesday 25th in the league with a 4.46 ERA in their bullpen and look to Michael Lorenzen, who has a 3.21 ERA that appears due for regression.

While Lorenzen’s ERA is low, his fielding Independent is 5.05 with 6.4 strikeouts to 4.1 walks per nine innings.

While the Rangers offense has taken a step back from last season, the team has done its best work on the road with over 4.5 runs per game on the road compared to 4.2 runs per game at home.

With both starting pitchers showing advanced stats on a lot of runs surrendered being on the horizon and Texas hitting the way they are on the road, there will be a slugfest in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
