Fresh off of sweeping the New York Yankees on the road, the Cincinnati Reds return home on Friday to host the Detroit Tigers as they look to claw their way back into the National League Playoff picture.

Carson Spiers gets the pitching start for the Reds, who is making his fourth start this season after beginning the season as a long reliever, posting a 3.13 ERA due in large part to pin point accuracy.
Spiers is allowing just 1.7 walks and 0.2 home runs per nine innings for a 2.68 fielding independent and gets to face a Tigers team that has had difficulties generating offense all season.
Detroit entered Thursday 21st in the league in scoring with 4.1 runs per game with their .292 on-base percentage ranking 28th while also ranking 24th in home runs per game.
Getting the start on the mound for the Tigers is Reese Olson, who owns a 3.32 ERA with 0.4 home runs per nine innings allowed, which the the best home runs per nine innings rate for a qualifying American League starters.
Despite these numbers being backed up by a 2.90 fielding independent, Olson has only a 2-8 record due in large part to the offense’s lack of support along with a bullpen that entered Thursday with a bullpen that ranked 20th in the league with a 4.28 ERA.
With the Reds entering Thursday ninth in the league with a 3.51 ERA and averaging 5.5 runs per game the past 10 games, the Reds will carry a very their momentum from the Bronx and win on Friday.
