Saturday is going to be an incredible day for international soccer, with two Euro 2024 quarter-finals and two Copa America quarter-finals set to take place. This will round out the quarter-finals for both tournaments, with the semi-finals in both tournaments to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Euro 2020 runners-up England will kick off the action when they face Switzerland before the Netherlands takes on the dark horse of the tournament, Turkey. Then, in Copa America, Colombia will face off against Panama before the heavyweight match between Uruguay and Brazil.

Switzerland To Advance (vs. England) (+135)
This feels like the end of the road to me for England. It’s been a disappointing tournament for them so far, and I think Saturday will be a bridge too far for this current team and manager. If it wasn’t for a miraculous bicycle kick from Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham in the 95th minute to tie the game, they would have lost to Slovakia, the 45th-ranked team in the Fifa World Rankings. Instead, they advanced in extra time and here we are. On Saturday, Switzerland will present a much tougher test, ranked 19th in the world and unbeaten in their last eight games. They are coming off an impressive 2-0 win against another world-class opponent in Italy, and they deserved it fully. The Swiss have proven they can compete with the best teams in the world, as they also drew 1-1 with Germany in the group stage of the tournament.
As for England, their struggles started before this tournament began. They lost their last international friendly before the start of this tournament, losing 1-0 to Iceland at home. They started Euro 2024 with an unconvincing 1-0 win against Serbia, before drawing against Denmark and Slovenia in their group. This team has not played well together for quite a while, and even though they have the star names, I’m not sure they’ll have enough to beat a Switzerland team that’s played much better football against better competition. I like the Swiss to advance in a close one.

Uruguay win and over 1.5 (vs. Brazil) (+310)
This bet is definitely on the riskier side, but I’m willing to take a chance with a team that’s looked as good as Uruguay has so far. With so much talent on both sides, I think there will be goals in this game. Ultimately, I like Uruaguay to come away with the win. In the final warm-up game before this tournament, they beat Mexico 4-0. Then, the Copa America started and they kept scoring. They beat Panama 3-1, before cruising past Bolivia 5-0. They weren’t too impressive in the 1-0 win over the United States, but they didn’t need to be as they had already topped the group.
Brazil are certainly on a different level from those teams mentioned, but they don’t seem to be playing too well as a team right now. Similar to England, there are so many individual names, but as a unit, the results and performances have not been there as of late. In their final warm-up game before the tournament, they played the United States and drew 1-1. To follow that up, they drew 0-0 with the 52nd-ranked team in the world Costa Rica, before finally performing well in a 4-1 win over Paraguay. In Brazil’s final game of the group, they needed to win to top the group and avoid Uruguay in the quarter-finals. Instead, they drew 1-1 with Colombia to finish second in their group and set up this mouthwatering matchup. Uruguay is ranked 14th in the world, and a knockout win over Brazil would significantly increase that ranking, and perhaps put them in pole position for a place in the final.
