Detroit Tigers at Los Angeles Angels
The Pick: Tigers run line -0.5 through first five innings -120
You know I have to back my guy Jack Flaherty. Tonight, he’ll take on the Angels, who have not hit well against righties. Tonight’s expected lineup has a combined .298 wOBA with a .141 ISO and a 25% K%. Flaherty comes into tonight having allowed just one earned run over his last four starts, which span a total of 22.1 innings against the White Sox, Astros, Rangers and Red Sox. As you’d imagine, Flaherty is posting some stellar numbers with a 2.92 ERA, an xERA of 2.72 and a career high 11.6 K/9. Against this struggling Angels offense, who is averaging just 3.7 runs per game and slashing .223/.305/.359 this month. I think this is a solid spot to back the Tigers on the first five run line.
New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays
The Pick: Yankees run line -0.5 through first five innings +105
Seems like a run line kind of night. The Blue Jays continue to free fall in the standings and are really struggling offensively. This offense cannot hit lefties and the numbers show it. Tonights expected lineup has a combined .283 wOBA with a .106 ISO but only a 17% K%. I would stay away from the strikeout prop for Carlos Rodon, which is set at 5.5, but I am interested in backing the Yankees on the first five run line. They’ve been one of the better teams on the first five run line, owning a record of 46-35. The matchup is quite lopsided, as Jose Berrios has really been going through it this month. He has a 5.56 ERA through 22.2 innings to go with a .384 wOBA and seven of the 17 home runs he’s allowed on the season. If the Blue Jays can’t hit Rodon, as evidenced by the numbers against lefties all year, the Yankees should have the lead after five innings.
Baltimore Orioles vs. Texas Rangers
The Pick: Gunnar Henderson over 1.5 bases -120
Henderson has been the talk of the town lately. He’s having an unbelievable month of June where he’s slashing .351/.447/.701 with eight home runs, 10 doubles and 34 hits overall. Tonight, he’ll be facing the righty Jon Gray, who essentially throws a slider and fastball. Those two pitches are one that Henderson, dating back to last season, have handled very well. Against the slider, Henderson has a .399 wOBA with a .377 ISO. Against fastballs, he’s has a .386 wOBA with a .296 ISO. Expecting to hit leadoff tonight, Henderson is in a great spot to go over his 1.5 base total for this game.
