The 2024 NBA Draft will tip off with the first round taking place on Wednesday, June 26 and the second round concluding on Thursday, June 27.
An intriguing prospect to look for is Cairns forward Bob Klintman, who is projected as either a late-first or early-second round pick. The 21-year old forward from Sweden has already traveled the globe in his young basketball gear and will now be testing himself at the sport’s highest level.
Bobi Klintman Draft Profile
Klintman moved to the United States in 2021 to enroll at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, where he was rated as a four-star recruit and ultimately signed with Wake Forest. After spending the summer playing for Sweden in the 2022 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B, he arrived to Wake and spent the season coming off the bench, averaging 5.3 points and 4.5 rebounds with the Demon Deacons.
Initially declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft, he instead opted to go to Australia and sign with the Cairns Taipans of the NBL. Mostly coming off the bench, he averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds through 23 games of action.
Strengths
Klintman is a lengthy forward whose versatility can make him a solid role player in the NBA. He is pretty good at shooting from the perimeter, shooting roughly 36% from three in both of his stints with Wake Forest and Cairns. His length makes him a threat to reel in steals and rebounds on defense, which he can then turn into nice transition opportunities on the other end of the floor.
Weaknesses
Strength and quickness are attributes that he needs to work on in order to play at a high level in the NBA. As The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor assessed, he needs to improve his lateral quickness to avoid being eaten alive by screens on defense. His dribbling ability is also subpar and that could impact his ability to make plays on offense.
Player comparison: Nic Batum, Maxi Kleber
The aforementioned O’Connor compared Klintman to Nic Batum while NBADraft.net’s Jorrye Nixon cited Maxi Kleber as a comp. He’s a lengthy wing with a high floor who could be a solid role player off the bench for years to come.
