A champion will be crowned for the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball tournament this evening as the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers will battle the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies in Game 3 of the Men’s College World Series Final at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game will air on ESPN.
After dropping Game 1 on Saturday, Tennessee was able to stave off elimination with a 4-1 victory in Game 2 on Sunday to force tonight’s winner-take-all tilt. Texas A&M jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on Sunday when Jace LaViolette blasted a solo home run into the right field bleachers to put the Aggies on the board. However, the Vols would strike back late, first with a Dylan Dreiling two-run shot in the top of the seventh and then followed by a Cal Stark two-run blast in the eighth. With two runners on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, UT’s Aaron Combs successfully shut the door on A&M to extend everyone’s stay in Omaha for one more day.
Both schools will be gunning for their first ever college baseball national championship in tonight’s All-SEC showdown. Tennessee owns a 2-1 record against Texas A&M this season, previously defeating the Aggies 7-4 in the second round of last month’s SEC Baseball Tournament.
