Brazil and Costa Rica will be in action Monday evening as group stage play at Copa America 2024 continues. Brazil enter this tournament as one of the favorites, while Costa Rica is hoping to surprise 10 years after advancing out of the “Group of Death” from the 2014 World Cup. Both teams have been in good form of late heading into the tournament.

Here’s what you need to know for the match, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Brazil v. Costa Rica

Moneyline odds

Brazil: -1100
Draw: +1100
Costa Rica: +2200

Moneyline pick: Brazil -1100

After losing three World Cup qualifying matches to close out 2023, Brazil got back on track in 2024 with two wins and two draws ahead of Copa America 2024. Costa Rica also lost its last three international matches of 2023, but has won four of its six matches in 2024. Although the level of competition has not been as high, the form is good.

Neither side has any injury concerns but the big storyline for Brazil is the absence of Neymar as he continues to recover from an ACL injury. The hope is he can join the team by the end of this year but he’s out for Copa America. Casemiro and Richarlison are also not in the team.

As the odds suggest, Brazil’s talent overpowers Costa Rica’s on paper. Even without the likes of Neymar, Casemiro and Richarlison, Brazil has more depth and firepower than Costa Rica. The young guns will be looking to prove themselves on the big stage without some key veterans, and they’ll make quick work of the Ticos. Taking Brazil on the spread (-130 at -2.5) is probably the best way to get any value out of this matchup.
