PITCHER

Stud

Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds ($9,500) — Are we still celebrating Paul Skenes Day? DraftKings is still celebrating. The traditional 7 p.m. ET fantasy baseball slate has been moved forward to include the Paul Skenes game at 6:40 p.m. ET. The phenom is worth the fuss. He’s lived up to expectations. He should live up to DFS players’ expectations on Monday. Skenes strikes out 35% of batters and the Reds are a high strikeout team (26% vs. RHP).

Value

Carson Spiers, Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates ($6,600) — Another young pitcher will take the mound in Pittsburgh. Spiers is not the next big thing, but he projects to be a decent major leaguer. Spiers returned to the big leagues last week and was thrown into the fire. He pitched 5.2 innings in relief and did not surrender a run while striking out seven. Pittsburgh is a pitcher-friendly park and Pittsburgh is a pitcher-friendly offense (25% K-Rate, .121 ISO, .284 wOBA and 81 wRC+ vs. RHP).

INFIELD

Stud

Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies ($6,300) The studs are straightforward. There are two teams of interest: The Dodgers at Coors Field and the Phillies. Good luck stacking Dodgers with Paul Skenes. Freeman is anything but free but he’s worth the price. He homered on Sunday and extended his six-game hit streak (hits in 12 of 14).

Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres ($6,100) — The Phillies aren’t in Colorado, but they draw a favorable matchup. SP Randy Vasquez ($5,500) has struggled in his eight starts — 1.9 HR/9, 74% Strand Rate, 4.93 ERA and 4.29 xFIP. Left-handed hitters have been the main source of his problems (.513 wOBA vs. LHB). Harper is tuning up right-handed pitchers (.247 ISO, .381 wOBA and 149 wRC+).

Value

Miguel Rojas, Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies ($3,900) Mookie Betts fractured his hand in Sunday’s game. Rojas was his replacement. On Saturday, Rojas homered. He’s scored over 18 DKFP in three of his last eight starts.

Logan O’Hoppe, Los Angeles Angels vs. Milwaukee Brewers ($4,300) — It’s not often that a catcher appears in this spot. The typical MLB DFS value pick for catcher is a punt. That’s not the case today. O’Hoppe has been an O’Hotty. Over the last nine games, O’Hoppe has 15 hits in 32 plate appearances (.355 ISO, .572 wOBA and 278 wRC+).

OUTFIELD

Stud

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies ($7,000) The stud hitter is more expensive than the value pitcher. That can happen at Coors. Ohtani homered twice on Sunday. Over the last 10 games, he has five home runs and 10 hits.

Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres ($5,700) — As mentioned above, Randy Vasquez struggles with left-handed batters — 3.2 HR/9 vs. LHB. Schwarber has pop — .203 ISO — and the park in Philadelphia is playing small this season (106 Park Factor).

Value

Andy Pages, Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies ($3,900) The Dodgers are projected to score 6.4 runs at Coors Field on Monday night. If Skenes and the studs stack won’t fit, then the Dodgers value picks will be popular. Pages has hit safely in nine of the last 11 games — .205 ISO, .406 wOBA and 168 wRC+.

Mickey Moniak, Los Angeles Angels vs. Milwaukee Brewers ($3,100) — Is the former No. 1 pick overall (2016) finally figuring it out? Moniak is on a maniacal run. He has nine hits in the last nine games — .280 ISO, .471 wOBA and 209 wRC+. SP Carlos Rodriguez ($5,500) struggled with left-handed batters in his Major League debut — .508 wOBA.
