The marquee matchup on tonight’s WNBA schedule will feature the New York Liberty hitting the road to visit the Chicago Sky in a Commissioner’s Cup contest. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET and the game will air on NBA TV.
New York (7-2) has won three straight heading into this showdown and once again hammered Indiana in a 104-68 blowout win on Sunday. The rout was on from the opening tip as the Liberty shot 57.6% from the field and notably held Caitlin Clark to just three points in the worst outing of her career so far. Jonquel Jones stepped up with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
Chicago (3-4) was not as fortunate against that same Indiana team the day before, dropping a 71-70 nailbiter. The two teams were neck-and-neck throughout the afternoon and trailing by one in the final seconds, the Sky weren’t able to foul as the Fever dribbled out the clock for the win. Of course, the sport’s media cycle for the last 72 hours has been dominated by Chennedy Carter’s hip check on Clark, furthering debates about how the No. 1 overall pick the No. 1 overall pick is being treated on the court. The game also marked the debut of No. 3 pick Kamilla Cardoso, who had 11 points and six rebounds in just 18 minutes of action.
On the injury front, Diamond DeShields (illness) is listed as probable for the Sky.
New York enters the game as an 8.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, accompanied by a total of 165. The Liberty are listed as a -340 moneyline favorite, making the Sky a +270 underdog.

New York heads into this contest with a 2-7 record against the spread, the worst ATS record in the league. Meanwhile, Chicago has been competitive in nearly every game this season and proved its feistiness when it beat this same NY team by nine less than two weeks ago. I expect the Sky to be focused following Saturday’s one-point loss and the ensuing media blitz that followed and it helps that Cardoso is finally active following her injury.
