Two Britain super lightweights collide as former undisputed champion Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) and Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) face off this Saturday, May 25. The fight gets going at First Direct Arena in Leeds, England. Live coverage of the card begins at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and DAZN.
Taylor achieved undisputed status with wins over Ivan Baranchyk, Regis Progrias and Jose Ramirez. In February 2022, he made his first title defense of the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring belts. Opposite him was Catterall and Taylor narrowly escaped with a questionable split decision victory. Last June, he was outperformed by Teofimo Lopez, losing the WBO and The Ring titles via unanimous decision.
Catterall had his moments against Taylor, including an 8th-round knockdown but still lost on the scorecards. Despite that tough break, he’s remained busy with wins over Darragh Foley and former three-weight champion Jorge Linares. Now he gets an opportunity to avenge his only professional loss from two years ago.
This highly anticipated rematch sees Catterall coming in the betting favorite. He currently has -160 odds to win, while Taylor is a slight +130 underdog. The favored method of victory is Catterall by decision (+150).
