Lynx vs. Sun pick against the spread, over/under for Thursday, May 23

Two undefeated teams will square off in the WNBA tonight as the Minnesota Lynx heads east to visit the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. ET.

Minnesota (2-0) is back in action for the first time in nearly a week, opening the season with back-to-back victories over Seattle. The Lynx triumphed over the Storm in a 102-93 double overtime affair last Friday, one where Naphessa Collier had an impressive statline with 29 points, nine rebounds, six steals, five assists, and two blocks. Connecticut (3-0) stayed undefeated by surviving a close 88-84 encounter against Indiana on Monday. Tyasha Harris drained a pair of free throws to put the Sun up by two with 11.1 seconds left and they were able to capitalize on Fever center Aliyah Boston missing what could’ve been the game-tying layup on the other end.

Connecticut enters the game as a 5.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, accompanied by a total of 162. The Sun are listed as a -265 moneyline favorite, making the Lynx a +215 underdog.

Lynx vs. Sun, 7 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Sun -5.5

We have really small sample sizes for both teams just over a week into the regular season, but Connecticut is already making an imprint on defense. The Sun are forcing a league-best 21.3 turnovers per game with an average differential of -9.3. Those extra possessions generated from takeaways add up and I think that will be enough for the home team to comfortable cover this evening.

Over/Under: Over 162

Both teams are near the top of the league in scoring with Minnesota averaging 92.5 ppg and Minnesota averaging 88 ppg. Minnesota’s average may be a bit skewed by last Friday’s double overtime victory over Seattle, but I think Collier and company will be in line for another solid night offensively. Give me the over.
