Even though there are several afternoon games, Major League Baseball has a full Wednesday night with 10 games on the main slate on DraftKings. The contests that include the 10 games scheduled under the lights begin at 6:40 p.m. ET. There are a few spots with potential weather issues, so be sure to double-check for the latest forecast before locking your lineup in.
Of the 10 matchups, only two are divisional games and two are interleague contests. Three probable starters are coming off the IL, highlighted by Blake Snell ($8,300), who will look to get on track after a slow start to his first season in San Francisco. There are many different ways to attack this 20-team player pool, so let’s dive into my top plays for Wednesday night’s slate:

PITCHER
Stud
Tyler Glasnow, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($10,600) – If you’re looking for a stud to build around, it’s hard to get any better option in baseball than Glasnow. He currently leads the MLB in strikeouts with 81 in his 62 innings of work for an impressive 11.76 K/9 to go with a solid 2.90 ERA and 2.56 FIP. He has at least eight strikeouts in five consecutive starts and has worked at least five innings in every one of his 10 starts this season. He was knocked around a little bit in his last start, giving up four runs and taking his second loss of the season, but before that, he posted over 30 DKFP in four straight starts. He has averaged over 25 DKFP per outing on the year, and he’ll look to keep his momentum going as he faces Arizona for the first time this season. With his elite punchout potential, he brings both a high ceiling and a floor if you can afford to build around the Dodgers’ Ace on Wednesday night.

Ryan Pepiot, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox ($7,500) – Pepiot is one of the three pitchers coming off IL for their start today, but he should be close to full strength after spending just 15 days on the IL. His injury had nothing to do with his arm or shoulder since he landed on IL after taking a comebacker off his leg against the Mets. In each of his three starts before that unlucky early May game, he had allowed zero or one run and had totaled 18 strikeouts in 18 innings. He posted over 25 DKFP in two of those starts by shutting down the Angels and the Brewers. Pepiot is 3-2 on the season with a 3.68 ERA and 3.66 FIP, but the young righty who was part of the Rays’ return for Glasnow has shown a high enough ceiling to be worth a look at this very affordable salary against the Red Sox. Boston has the third-highest K% in the MLB this season, so this is a slightly favorable home matchup for Pepiot’s return.
INFIELD
Stud
Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks ($6,500) – Ohtani continues to be a great fantasy option across the board this season and can either slot in at 1B or OF depending on how the rest of your roster fits together. He leads the MLB with a .356 batting average and an impressive .460 wOBA. He picked up two more hits on Tuesday and added two stolen bases for a total of 24 DKFP. He has 13 stolen bases on the season, eight of which have come in his last 17 games. During that span, he has hit an impressive .397 with six homers and a .515 wOBA. He and the Dodgers have a good matchup against righty Ryne Nelson ($5,000) on Wednesday night. Nelson has allowed four homers this season, all to lefties like Shohei, who have tuned him up for a .371 wOBA. If you can make their salaries work, going with Glasnow and a full Dodgers stack is a solid strategy to build around.

Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays ($5,500) – Devers didn’t homer on Tuesday for the first time in a week, but he still has 12 DKFP by going 1-for-3 with a walk and stealing his first base of the season. Devers has double-digit DKFP in seven straight thanks to that home run streak and has averaged 16.1 DKFP per contest during that span. In May, he has been absolutely dialed in at the plate with a 62.0% hard-hit rate, per Statcast to back up his .425 wOBA and .370 ISO. Devers and the Sox can complete a three-game road sweep if they can get to Pepiot on Wednesday night.

Nico Hoerner, Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves ($4,000) – After missing a week with a hamstring issue but never landing on IL, Hoerner returned to the lineup on Tuesday. He went just 1-for-5 with 5 DKFP, but that one hit was a walk-off single in the 10th to beat the Braves. Hoerner should be back in the leadoff spot on Wednesday against lefty Max Fried ($8,600) after hitting sixth on Tuesday. Against lefties this season, Hoerner is hitting .310 with a .363 wOBA after hitting .306 with a .330 wOBA against southpaws last season. Hoerner has eligibility at either 2B or SS and brings a high ceiling if he hits atop Chicago’s lineup on Wednesday.

Andruw Monasterio, Milwaukee Brewers at Miami Marlins ($2,500) – Monasterio is another potential leadoff option from the NL Central, but he comes even cheaper than Hoerner as one of the top bargain plays on the slate. Monasterio can fit at either 2B or 3B, and he got his first look as a leadoff batter on Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base for 14 DKFP. He’s hitting only .182 in his limited action since being called up, but at Triple-A he hit a solid .243 with six stolen bases and a .318 wOBA in 10 games. Monasterio is a speed and on-base option that should work nicely in the leadoff spot in theory, especially against lefties. He started Tuesday against lefty Trevor Rogers, and the Brew Crew face another lefty in Jesus Luzardo ($7,800) on Wednesday. If Monasterio gets another shot at leadoff, he’ll be an awesome sub-$3,000 play.
OUTFIELD

Aaron Judge, New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners ($6,200) – Judge has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball in May, but his eight-game hitting streak came to a halt on Wednesday. Despite going 0-for-4, he is still hitting .414 (24-for-58) over his last 17 games with 10 doubles, seven homers and an amazing .603 wOBA. His wRC+ over that span is an eye-popping 302 and he has a 72.1% hard-hit rate, per Statcast. He should be able to bounce back as the Yankees look to avoid being swept by Seattle. Judge will have a tough matchup with Bryce Miller ($9,500), but Miller has served up eight homers in nine starts and has gotten a little lucky to have a 3.08 ERA, according to the advanced metrics. Aaron Judge at home always seems like a good play, although I’d give a slight edge to Shohei if you can only afford one basher tonight.

Julio Rodriguez, Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees ($4,800) – On the other side of that matchup, Rodriguez and the Mariners will look to close out an impressive sweep as they take on lefty Nestor Cortes ($9,300). Rodriguez only has two homers on the season and is hitting .268 with nine stolen bases. He has continued to find success against southpaws, though, hitting .319 in the split with a .356 wOBA. He has shown some signs of life recently at the plate, going 11-for-36 (.361) over his last nine games with one home run and a 44.8% hard-hit rate.

Heliot Ramos, San Francisco Giants at Pittsburgh Pirates ($3,000) – Ramos hit just .179 in his 25 games in the MLB last year, but the 24-year-old righty has looked dramatically improved in 2024. In 30 games at Triple-A, Ramos hit .296 with eight home runs, two stolen bases and a .409 wOBA. He has also performed well in his 12 games since being called up, averaging 7.8 DKFP per game by going 13-for-45 (.289) with three doubles, a home run, a stolen bases and a .341 wOBA. Ramos and the Giants face promising rookie Pirate Jared Jones ($9,600) on Wednesday, but Jones has allowed nine homers in nine games with his 2.89 ERA, so he isn’t a matchup you necessarily have to avoid. I wouldn’t stack the Giants, but Ramos makes sense at such a low salary.

Corey Julks, Chicago White Sox at Toronto Blue Jays ($2,500) – The White Sox snagged Julksin a minor league trade a week ago from the Astros, and the 28-year-old has jumped right in as a productive part of their outfield mix. If Eloy Jimenez ($4,000; hamstring) is sidelined, Julks could be in store for an even more regular role. Last year, he hit .245 in 93 games for the Astros and showed good speed with 15 stolen bases to go with his six homers. This year in his 33 games at Triple-A, he had five homers and six steals with a wOBA over .350. He was called up four games ago by the White Sox and has gone 4-for-10 (.400) with a home run, three walks and two stolen bases to average 11.3 DKFP per game. With both power and speed potential, he’s a good buy at $2,500 if he gets another start on Wednesday.
