The MLB schedule for Wednesday, May 22 looks a little wonky as technically 16 games will be played. The first, though, is the resumption of Tuesday’s suspended game between the Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Cardinals. At the time of this writing on Wednesday morning, there is not an option to wager on this game, but there may be some live bets available.

Teddy Ricketson’s 2024 MLB Player Prop record: 60-41-5
Tuesday recap (0-3): I went a little riskier with the prop bets yesterday and paid for it by three near misses. I tend to take alternate strikeout lines for more coverage, but I really thought Javier Assad would have punched out at least five Atlanta Braves batters. He finished with four after a short 4.2 innings of work. Brandon Pfaadt needed not to pitch six full innings and got the extra out he needed to hit the over on his outs recorded line while I took the under. Alex Bregman went 0-5 at the plate, finishing without a hit.
MLB player prop bets: Wednesday, May 22
Nestor Cortes, over 5.5 strikeouts (-155)
I know that I just said that I tend to take alternate strikeout lines, but the discrepancy from 5+ (-350) to this line is too much of a sacrifice. It also helps that Cortes will be pitching against the Seattle Mariners lineup, which averages the most strikeouts per game in the league (10.14). This is the third game of a four-game series, and so far, New York Yankees starters Marcus Stroman and Clarke Schmidt have both struck out six in their appearances. Cortes has struck out at least six batters in two of his last three starts.
Tyler Glasnow, over 7.5 (-135)
Glasnow’s strikeout lines always seem too high, but his high strikeout numbers feel matchup-proof. He has five straight starts with at least eight strikeouts. Glasnow does have a tougher opponent in the Arizona Diamondbacks, who average the eighth-fewest strikeouts in the league (7.69). He has punched out 81 batters in 62 innings of work this season and should add at least eight more to that on Wednesday.
Josh Lowe, over 0.5 hits (-255)
The Tampa Bay outfielder will take on the Boston Red Sox and starter Brayan Bello on Wednesday. Lowe has had his number so far in their matchups, heading into this game 7-14 with two doubles and a home run against Bello. He is hitting .245 this season, has a hit in back-to-back games and should be able to push it to a three-game hitting streak.
