The 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge tees off from Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, Texas this week. The tournament will run from Thursday, May 23 through Sunday, May 26. The Challenge is not a designated event on the PGA TOUR this season, but it will still draw a very talented field. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler heads up a strong group that includes Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, and Tony Finau. Scheffler, who finished T8 at last week’s PGA Championship, is the favorite to win.

Scottie Scheffler +275
Scheffler shot a shocking 74 on the Saturday of the PGA Championship to effectively take him out of the running for the major title, but he still finished in the top 10 with a -6 on Sunday. Scheffler is without a doubt the best golfer in the field heading into the Charles Schwab Challenge. He leads the field in total strokes gained, SG: Tee to Green, SG: Off the Tee, SG: Approach, and SG: Around the Green over the last six months.
Unless anything goes extremely wrong or off-kilter (and after Scheffler’s bizarre arrest last weekend, that sort of event proves to not be completely out of the question), the World No. 1 should win this week.
Tony Finau +3500
Finau finished with a T18 last week after shooting 65 in the first round. Finau has seen his ups and downs at Colonial, finishing with a T4 in 2022 and missing the cut in 2023. Finau has cracked the top 10 a few times already this year, and after a strong performance at Valhalla, he could make a solid run for the Charles Schwab.
Finau ranks second in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green and third in SG: Approach over the last six months. However, Scheffler’s presence at the tournament pushes everyone else’s chances down a bit further, and Finau may have to settle for a top-five finish even if he plays at his highest level this week.
Tom Hoge +4500
While Hoge has not historically performed well at the Charles Schwab, he could be an interesting underdog pick this week. Hoge ranks fourth in the field in total strokes gained over the last six months, and ranks second behind Scheffler in SG: Approach. Hoge has missed just two cuts in 2024 and has grabbed top 10 finishes in two signature events this year.
