The Celtics, who have held the edge to win the title for most of the season, are now considered heavy favorites when looking at these odds. They’ve had a relatively easy path to the conference finals but now face an Indiana team coming off the best shooting performance in NBA history in its road win in Game 7 over the Knicks. The Pacers beat the Celtics in the knockout round of the In-Season Tournament this year and certainly have the depth to push Boston.
The Timberwolves had a big comeback in their own road win in Game 7, taking out the defending champions Nuggets to advance to the conference finals for the first time since 2004. This team, led by young star Anthony Edwards, appears to be on a mission. However, the Mavericks are no joke. They’ve been one of the best defensive teams over the last two months, while Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have figured things out offensively. This series should be closer, and there’s value on taking both these squads against Boston. The Timberwolves likely have the depth to push the Celtics, but the Mavericks have the star talent to match Boston.
