The Western Conference Finals kick off Wednesday night!
The Timberwolves are fresh off a monumental Game 7 victory over the defending champion Nuggets in Denver, pulling off a highly-improbable 3-2 series comeback. It’s hard not to feel good about Minnesota right now, but the Mavericks are battle-tested themselves, beating the Clippers and No. 1 seeded Thunder to get to this point.
In this article, I’m going to break down my favorite NBA player prop on DraftKings Sportsbook for Game 1 of Timberwolves-Mavericks. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks — Game 1
Luka Doncic Over 28.5 Points (+100)
Look, I understand that Luka Doncic is in the midst of his worst postseason yet. I get that he’s banged up, and will become even more so against a very physical Timberwolves team.
All of that said, getting the opportunity to take his over at 28.5 points at plus-money is INCREDIBLY enticing.
Despite Doncic’s shooting struggles, he closed last round on a high note, racking up 31 and 29 points in back-to-back games while shooting over 50% from the field. Following those respective efforts, he was rewarded with three full days of rest. In the playoffs, that’s the equivalent of getting 10 days off.
While the sluggishness we saw from Luka may eventually show up over the course of the series as Minnesota attempts to wear him down, I expect him to come out strong in Game 1. It’s also worth noting that while the Wolves are the best defensive team in the league, Doncic has given them fits as of late. The NBA’s leading scorer has racked up at least 33 points in three straight matchups against Minnesota, and I expect a similar performance from him on Wednesday.
