With seven contests starting just before 7:00 p.m. ET, we’ve got ourselves an unusually small eight-game MLB featured slate on a Tuesday night. Heck, with storms expected in St. Louis, it could end up being even smaller. Keep an eye on that one as we get closer to lock.

Yusei Kikuchi, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Chicago White Sox, $9,300 – It’s hard to put into words how poorly the White Sox have performed against LHPs in 2024. Entering play on Tuesday, Chicago is hitting below the Mendoza Line as a team (.196) within the split while also being in possession of a league-worst wRC+ (60). The lefty that benefits from these struggles this evening? Yusei Kikuchi. The veteran is already having the best season of his career, sporting a 2.60 ERA and a 2.61 FIP across his 52.0 innings of work. Walks used to haunt Kikuchi, who has always had elite stuff, yet the 32-year-old is seen his walk rate drop to a microscopic 4.8%. He’s locked in.

Cal Quantrill, Colorado Rockies at Oakland Athletics, $6,000 – I know. Just hear me out. Quantrill was one of the worst pitchers in baseball last season, then he got traded to Colorado. Death sentence, right? Well… Quantrill has looked pretty good lately. In his last seven starts, the RHP owns a 2.53 ERA and a massive 54.1% ground ball rate. In his last three starts, Quantrill has allowed only two earned runs over 19.2 innings. Priced at $6K, he’s at least worth a look on tonight’s slate. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the Athletics have posted a 64 wRC+ with a league-high 31.8% strikeout rate across the past seven days.
INFIELD

Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles at St. Louis Cardinals, $5,900 – With a long ball in his last four games, Henderson currently leads baseball with 16 home runs. In other words: He’s red-hot and has as much ceiling as any position player in MLB. Meanwhile, no pitcher has surrendered more homers than Lance Lynn ($7,200) dating back to the beginning of 2023 (50). In fact, Lynn’s conceded eight more than than JP Sears, who sits with the second-most. Woof.

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs, $5,100 – I want to make it clear that this is not a slight towards Javier Assad ($7,700), who has been brilliant in 2024. However, we’ve got wind blowing 25mph straight out of Wrigley tonight. That usually means some offensive fireworks. Olson is also starting to heat up at the plate. In his last 10 games, Olson is slashing .333/.400/.611 with a 185 wRC+. Considering how often he was priced above $6K in 2023, this salary seems like a steal.

Davis Schneider, Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox, $4,100 – This isn’t an easy matchup for Schneider, as Garrett Crochet ($9,500) enters Tuesday with a sterling 2.20 xERA. However, in his 92 career plate appearances against LHPs, Schneider owns a 1.102 OPS and a 197 wRC+. He’s also cemented into the Jays’ leadoff spot and will likely get a few at-bats against a White Sox bullpen that has registered a 4.71 FIP — the third-worst mark in baseball.

Jon Singleton, Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels, $3,500 – It’s been a rough campaign for Griffin Canning ($5,500) and his issues only seem to get worse on the road. In fact, the RHP is in possession of a 6.64 ERA when pitching away from Los Angeles in 2024. Canning is also letting opposing LHBs hit .294 with a .367 wOBA. There are obviously better left-handed bats in the Astros’ lineup — more on those below — but tonight isn’t a bad time to take a chance on Singleton’s plus-power.
OUTFIELD

Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels, $6,100 – Like I said above, there’s some reasons to like the Astros’ left-handed bats on Tuesday. Tucker is of particular interest, as he currently leads all qualified AL bats with a 192 wRC+. The outfielder also happens to be slashing .296/.443/.630 with a .333 ISO against RHPs, so Canning would be wise to tread carefully in this matchup.

Cody Bellinger, Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves, $5,100 – Remember when I mentioned the wind at Wrigley tonight? Well, you need to be able to put the ball in the air to maximize that advantage. Luckily, that’s something Bellinger has been quite good at in 2024. In fact, Bellinger has managed a career-high 56.8% fly ball rate this season. They’ve been good fly balls, too, as the former MVP’s 9.0% barrel rate is the highest it’s been since 2020. In an opposite-hand matchup versus Charlie Morton ($8,100), I’ll side with Bellinger.

Luke Raley, Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees, $3,100 – How’s this for hard-hitting analysis: Luke Raley is on fire in the batter’s box. The outfielder has three hits in each of his last two games and, for the month of May as a whole, Raley is slashing .417/.462/.667 with a 226 wRC+. It’s enough of a thing that the Mariners have moved Raley into their clean-up spot. He’s simply too cheap at this level of production.
