The 2024 Western Conference Finals are set, with the Minnesota Timberwolves facing the Dallas Mavericks for a chance to reach the NBA Finals. The Timberwolves have made it back here for the first time in 20 years, while the Mavericks are hoping to take the next step after making the conference finals two seasons ago. Minnesota won the regular-season series between the two sides 3-1.

Timberwolves vs. Mavericks series props
Over 5.5 games in series (-160)
Both sides are extremely hungry to prove themselves and cement their place in a loaded Western Conference. Getting to the Finals will help them establish that standing. I don’t expect this to be a particularly short series, and Game 7 does feel likely. However, I do think every game will be relatively close and that could lead to a few games swinging towards one team to eventually shorten things up. I think six or seven games is a safe bet for two teams who have shown they will fight no matter what the circumstances are and can win on the road.
Timberwolves to win series 4-2 (+500)
Minnesota winning Game 7 to win the series 4-3 is the most likely result per the oddsmakers at +380 but I like the Timberwolves to once again finish this series on the road. Dallas has shown the ability to win road games but Minnesota just took three against the defending champions, including a Game 7 in the Mile High City. The Mavericks looked a bit shaky at home against the Thunder in Games 4 and 6
Timberwolves to win Game 1/Timberwolves to win series (+105)
Unlike the Pacers in the other conference finals series, the Timberwolves will get an additional day of rest before starting this series against Dallas. The Mavericks have not had much success against Minnesota, and I think the Timberwolves will be fired up after taking Game 7 on the road against the defending champions. They should come out strong in Game 1. Dallas will recover a bit after taking the first punch but I see Minnesota ultimately taking the series.
