The Minnesota Timberwolves will try to get back to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2004 when they visit the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 in their second-round series. The Timberwolves won the first two games of this series in Denver but lost three in a row before a blowout win in Game 6 at home to force this decisive contest. When you don’t make the playoffs a lot, it’s hard to play in Game 7s. However, the Timberwolves are 1-0 in Game 7s with the lone ocassion coming in 2004 during that run to the conference finals. Minnesota took down an aging but talented Sacramento Kings team in Game 7 at home to advance.
Even though the Timberwolves haven’t played in a Game 7 since then, some of their current players have at other stops. Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert were involved in a decisive game, with Gobert actually playing two Game 7s. The big man was 1-1, while Conley is 0-1 with that loss coming against these very Nuggets in the Orlando bubble.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Timberwolves are 5-point underdogs for Sunday evening’s Game 7.
