Let’s dig into the NBA DFS research and make some fantasy basketball picks, as we gear up for two of the biggest NBA Playoffs games in a decade.

Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers, $9,500 — No matter how things work out, Brunson has been phenomenal this season. New Yorkers don’t want to hear that. It’s been years since the Knicks were contenders, but they’re still New York. This is the Mecca of Basketball. Game 7 is in Madison Square Garden. Brunson better score a billion. His legacy is on the line. Has there ever been a bigger Knicks game on a DraftKings slate?

Christian Braun, Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $3,500 — Championships are won by role players. Championships are won by champions. Braun is a champion. Mr. Kansas won three state championships in high school. He won the NCAA Championship in 2022 and the NBA Championship in 2023. Braun knows big games. When he plays big, the Nuggets win. After solid performances in Game 4 and 5, he disappeared in Game 6. All of the Nuggets disappeared. They lost by 45 points. There’s a good chance that Braun will play close to 30 minutes in a close game. That can’t be ignored at his price point.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $4,100 — The series returns to altitude. The Nuggets are used to the lack of oxygen. Opposing teams are at a disadvantage. KCP’s home splits have always been better. His best game of the series was the Nuggets 112-97 home win in Game 5 (31.25 DKFP in 38 minutes). He’s not efficient, but nearly 40 minutes from a 4K play is a steal.

Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets, $9,400 — This is storyline Sunday. Old rivals face off at MSG. The Knicks are playing their biggest game in a decade. Jokic is in a Game 7. And then there is Edwards. They say he’s the next Jordan. He’s 80s Jordan. Which Ant-Man will show up in Denver? The ant that scored less than 40 DKFP in both Game 3 and Game 5? Or will he play big, just like he did when he punched the Nuggets in their face at Denver in Game 1 (63.25 DKFP)?

Michael Porter Jr., Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $6,000 — It’s been a tale of two series. Porter Jr lit up the Lakers in the first round. It’s been lights out in the second round and not in a good way. He can’t light the flame. He can’t light a match. Porter has been put out. His salary has plummeted. This is a buy-low option that no one wants. Porter has potential and probably will be under-owned. It’s risky, but two-game slates are won by risk-takers.
OG Anunoby, New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers, $9,500 — Speaking of risk, no NBA DFS value pick is riskier than this one. Anunoby hasn’t played since Game 2 when he scored 41.5 DKFP in 28 minutes. He was on an absolute tear until he tore up his hamstring. Anunoby has been upgraded to questionable for Game 7. Will he play? If he does, how much? The Knicks need him. New York is 6-2 in the playoffs with Anunoby in the lineup.

Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, $11,300 — The Joker in a Game 7 at home is the least compelling story on Sunday. That’s how amazing Sunday’s slate is. It looked like this series was over when Jokic dropped 76.75 DKFP — his third 70-point performance this postseason — in Game 5. After one half in Game 6 and a 20-point deficit, Game 7 was inevitable after a 34.75 DKFP joke of a showing by the Joker. The funny Joker is not suiting up on Sunday. The psychopathic, ruthless killer will throw on the purple suit and makeup.
Value
Isaiah Jackson, Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks, $3,200 — The minutes will not be there. Despite the lack of playing time, Jackson has hit 5.9x, 6.6x and 7.0x in this series. Want to play superstars on Sunday? Needs savings? I “say ya” save with Isaiah. It’s risky, but this is the playoffs. Every value pick is a risk every night. Every round, the bench players become riskier. There is a pair of Game 7s on Sunday. The starters might play every minute in each game. Embrace the risk.
Obi Toppin, Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks, $3,900 — If value fails, it fails across the board. This is a very likely outcome. Each team will be reluctant to pull their best players off the court in Game 7. NBA DFS value picks come off the bench, Minutes are limited off the bench on Sunday. The cheapest value picks with the lowest threshold for a decent return could be the best NBA DFS value picks. Toppin hasn’t been poppin’, but he’s still scorin’. His 17.5 DKFP in Game 6 could be enough on this slate. He’s a point-per-minute player priced under $4,000. It’s hard to do better on a two-gamer.
