How a Bettor Turned $10 Into over $26,000 With an NBA SGPx on DraftKings Sportsbook

The SGPx was made up of selections from each of the two NBA games on the schedule that night and was focused on one kind of prop—player three-pointers. This bettor selected six players from the Celtics-Cavaliers Game 5 and six from the Mavericks-Thunder Game 5 on Wednesday night. The Celtics and Cavs tipped off first as Boston looked to close out the series against the short-handed Cavs who were without Donovan Mitchell, Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen.

Even without those stars, the Cavs hung tough and kept the game competitive. This SGPx picked two of their biggest scorers to go under their three-point totals, though. Evan Mobley could have ended this SGPx at any moment since all he had to do was hit one three-pointer at any point in the game to go over his total of 0.5 three-pointers. He played 43 minutes and led the team with 24 field goal attempts. Three of those were from long-range, but he went 0-for-3. In the series, the 22-year-old hit two three-pointers and attempted at least one in the final four games of the series.

Garland was second on the team behind only Mobley in field goal attempts, going 4-for-17 from the field. His number was 2.5 three-pointers made, but he went 0-for-4 and never really threatened this SGPx.

On the other side of that matchup, the SGPx had Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday to stay under their three-point totals and Jayson Tatum and Derrick White to go over. Brown went 1-for-3 and Holiday 1-for-4. Brown’s made three was the first basket of the game, but he missed his two attempts later in the game—either of which could have ended this SGPx. Holiday’s made three-pointer came with 3:09 left in the game when the Cavs closed to within 10 points, but he did not attempt another three-pointer that could have sunk this SGPx.

The bettor needed three threes from both Tatum and White. White hit two three-pointers in the first quarter and one more before halftime to reach his over. Tatum had one in the first quarter and dripped this three-pointer just before halftime in the highlight below.

Tatum missed both his three-point attempts in the third quarter, even though he played all 12 minutes and had 10 points. In the fourth quarter, he only attempted one three-pointer, and he drilled it to hit the over with 6:45 left in the game.

When Mobley and Brown didn’t hit a three in the fourth quarter, this bettor was half-way to the win, and the Celtics held on for a 113-98 victory to move into the Eastern Conference Finals.

In the second game of the night, this SGPx had two picks from the Thunder and four from the Mavs. From OKC, Jalen Williams had to hit under 1.5 while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had to make over 1.5. Williams took three three-pointers on the night but did not connect while scoring just 12 points in 39 minutes. SGA had no trouble scoring, pouring in 30 points to go with eight assists and six rebounds, and hitting two three-pointers to just barely go over his over/under. He didn’t make any in the first half, but hit one just after halftime and one more a couple of minutes into the fourth quarter.

On the other side of the late game, the bettor needed Kyrie and P.J. Washington to stay under 2.5 three-pointers made and Tim Hardaway Jr. to make under 1.5. All three of those players got within one shot of ending the parlay. Kyrie hit his first three in the second quarter and dripped his second with 2:25 left in the third quarter. He didn’t take another three the rest of the game, though, so the bettor avoided that loss.

Hardaway’s three-pointer came early in the second quarter, but he couldn’t get a second to fall, missing a three-point attempt in the fourth quarter and not attempting one after checking in late when the game was out of hand.

Washington was off the mark early, but hit a three at 6:44 in the third quarter and followed it with a second with 4:54 left in the fourth. He took a three on the next possession that could have ended the night for this SGPx, but SGA played the hero and came through with a block.

The other piece that this SGPx needed to win was Luka to make over 2.5 three-pointers. That doesn’t seem like a big ask, but he had under 2.5 three-pointers in three of the first four games of the series. Luka came to play in Game 5, though, posting his best game of the series with 31 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The triple-double is nice, but this bettor only needed three-pointers. Doncic knocked down one in the first quarter and one in the second quarter and needed just one more to hit the over. He came out hot in the third quarter and delivered the over with 5:32 remaining in the third. He also delivered the Mavs the huge win in Game 5 that gave them a 3-2 series lead over the top-seeded Thunder.

When the Mavs’ win went final, this bettor was able to celebrate taking him over $26,000 by picking these 12 three-point player props correctly.
