After a lighter day on Thursday, the MLB is back with a full 15-game slate on Friday, May 17. This gives bettors an abundance of player prop lines and odds to look through when trying to find an advantage. Teddy Ricketson’s 2024 MLB Player Prop record: 55-37-5
Thursday recap (3-0): Jared Jones struck out seven on Thursday, hitting both his strikeout prop line and the alternate line that we took. J.D. Martinez struck out twice but benefitted from the game going into extras as he notched a base hit in the top of the 11th inning. Tyler Glasnow took his second loss of the season but struck out eight over five innings, hitting his alternate strike out line.
MLB player prop bets: Friday, May 17
Paul Skenes, 6+ strikeouts (-210)
Skenes will make his second start of the season and, coincidentally, his second against Chicago. His MLB debut went like much of his minor league appearances; he lit up speed guns at the stadium, tallied a bunch of strikeouts and didn’t stick around very long. Skenes didn’t factor into the decision and struck out seven over four innings.
Ryan Feltner, over 1.5 walks (-135)
Feltner tends to struggle with control when he takes the mound. He has walked 12 batters in 45 innings this season, including at least two in six of his eight starts this season. Feltner will take on the San Francisco Giants on Friday and in two career starts against them he finished the game with two and three walks.
Tarik Skubal, over 5.5 strikeouts (-170)
Skubal will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. As a team, they average only 7.61 strikeouts per game, the eighth-fewest in the league. Still, Skubal has been dominating hitters on the mound and has struck out at least six batters in five straight starts and seven of his eight appearances this season.
