Did cutting the cheese actually cut the tension in the Knicks locker room before their big Game 5 win?

We’ve already discussed how the Knicks rolled to a big win in Game 5 on Tuesday, but we haven’t discussed an important update that has now come to our attention. Someone in the Knicks’ locker room cut the cheese.

Yes, some let loose an “epic fart” when proceeded to loosen up the locker room en route to victory. The Athletic’s Fred Katz was the first with the story and joined The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz to discuss this major breaking news.

You know, one thing he points out is that when you go to journalism school they teach you a lot of things, but one thing they don’t teach you is whether a fart is on the record, off the record or on background. A major failing in our education system. That being said, Dan points out that Fred is protecting he who dealt it, implying that Fred thinks it should be off the record, which Dan disagrees with. Fred says he’s actually treating it as on background, with the culprit being a non-essential aspect of the story. Dan just wants to get closer to the truth of the matter, dammit!

Fred is willing to give a little more, admitting that it wasn’t necessarily the smell but rather the sound that gave the fart away. And it was really the culprit’s attempt to deflect the truth that got everyone cracking up more so than the act itself. It was not the act of cutting the cheese that cut the tension, but rather the attempted coverup!
