After grabbing the first two games in the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Timberwolves suddenly find themselves on the brink of elimination after losing three games in a row. Minnesota will get the chance to force a Game 7, and this is the first true test for this young squad. Can the Timberwolves get the job done at home?
Here’s a look at some of our favorite Timberwolves player prop bets to target for Game 6 Thursday, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Anthony Edwards over 29.5 points (-102)
For Minnesota to level the series, Edwards needs to be a factor offensively. The star forward was the talk of the NBA for two games and had a monster showing in Game 4, but was not nearly aggressive enough in Games 3 and 5. I think Edwards takes it upon himself to lead the Timberwolves to a win at home and should get over this line Thursday evening.
Naz Reid over 1.5 3-pointers (odds)
Reid went over this line in each of the first two games, shooting 50% from the perimeter. The Sixth Man of the Year has only hit 25% of his triples over the last three contests, including going 0-3 in Game 5. If Mike Conley is out or limited, Reid will have to be one of the role players who steps up for Minnesota. He should be able to break out of his shooting rut in Game 6. Reid did shoot slightly better in home games than in road games, so that’s a positive sign for him ahead of this contest.
Rudy Gobert over 1.5 blocks (-166)
The Defensive Player of the Year has looked completely befuddled over the last two games when attempting to guard Nikola Jokic, allowing the league MVP to go for 75 points combined. Of course, not all of that is on Gobert but he’s been Jokic’s primary defender for the majority of those games. He managed three blocks in the series opener and got two blocks in Game 5, so there’s a history of some success in this matchup. More importantly, he has to show why he was such a heralded defender this year. I like him to send at least a couple shots back in tonight’s game.
