The 2024 NFL regular season schedule was released in full on Wednesday and now have the official dates for several notable matchups around the league.
In the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys will face the Washington Commanders twice as they do every year. However, this year’s games will be intriguing considering that former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is now the head coach of the Commanders. We’ll take a look at when these two division rivals will square off this fall.
Week 12: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders
Week 18: Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys
Dan Quinn arrived to Dallas as their new defensive coordinator in 2021, immediately following his mid-season firing as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons the year prior. He’d spend the next three seasons commanding one of the best defensive units in the league, spearheaded by the drafting of Micah Parsons in 2021. The Cowboys would lead the league in takeaways per game through his first two seasons and he was voted AP Assistant Coach of the Year in his first season on the job.
What makes this intriguing is that the Cowboys have stated that they’re going “all in” this year despite losing several key pieces like Quinn in the offseason. This will be a make-or-break year do the organization and everything could be blown up if they once again crumble in the postseason. Meanwhile, the Commanders have undergone a total overhaul this offseason with a new owner in Josh Harris, a new quarterback in Jayden Daniels, and of course Quinn as the new head coach. Washington’s ascent upwards in the NFC could come at the expense of Dallas and the former Cowboys DC could play a huge hand in their downfall.
