The Miami Dolphins open the 2024 season with a home matchup against the Jaguars. Last season, Dolphins lost the AFC East title with a late loss to the Bills, and were promptly eliminated from the playoffs by the Chiefs in the Wild Card round. The Dolphins have not made it past the Wild Card round since 2000. They went 11-6 in 2023.
The Dolphins are currently in talks with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to negotiate a contract extension. Tagovailoa has been riddled with various injuries throughout the past several seasons, including multiple concerning head injuries. The Dolphins appear to be committing to him for the foreseeable future, and signed free agent Odell Beckham Jr. in the 2024 offseason.
They also added safety Jordan Poyer, CB Kendall Fuller, and LBs Jordyn Brooks and Shaquil Barrett on the defensive side, and signed TE Jonnu Smith and center Andrew Brewer to the offense. Defensive tackles Raekwon Davis and Christian Wilkins signed elsewhere in the offseason, as did LB Andrew Van Ginkel.
In the draft, Miami used their first round pick to select edge rusher Chop Robinson out of Penn State. They grabbed OT Patrick Paul out of Houston in the second round, and added running back Jaylen Wright out of Tennessee in the fourth.
