We’ve got an 11-game featured MLB slate on Tuesday night. That’s right. Just 11 games. With rain washing away Monday’s tilt between the Nationals and White Sox, the two teams will play a doubleheader this evening, which removes Game 2 from DraftKings’ contests. I know. I’m not sure how we’ll survive without those two powerhouse lineups.

Dylan Cease, San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies, $11,000 – Don’t overthink this one. Cease has been otherworldly as of late, registering at least 31.0 DKFP in three of his last four starts. Honestly, he’s been amazing all season long, as the RHP has managed a 2.19 ERA and a 2.77 xERA across his 49.1 innings of work. Cease’s 8.6% walk rate is a career-low, while his 32.4% strikeout rate is a career-high. It’s hard to argue with his status as this slate’s most expensive starter. Then there’s the matchup. Colorado leads the NL in strikeout rate (26.0%) and has its worst wRC+ (79). You couldn’t ask for a better spot for Cease to stay cooking.

Gavin Stone, Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants, $7,900 – In a twist that will shock no one, it appears that Stone is starting to figure it out at the MLB level. A pitching development success story for the Dodgers? Never. In his last three outings, Stone has conceded just three earned runs across 20.0 innings of work. The strikeout totals are nothing special, but that’s counteracted by Stone’s massive win expectancy each and every time he takes the mound. The fact that the Giants own baseball’s worst ISO when playing at home doesn’t hurt, ether (.114).
INFIELD
Stud
Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians at Texas Rangers, $6,000 – After a sluggish start to 2024, Ramirez is heating up. In his last nine games the All-Star is slashing .303/.378/.697 with a 203 wRC+. In that same span, Ramirez has four long balls and three stolen bases. For all intents and purposes, he’s back. On Tuesday, Ramirez and the Guardians will get the pleasure of facing Jack Leiter ($7,000), who has allowed 11 earned runs in his 7.2 innings at the MLB level. That’s pretty enticing.

Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, $4,800 – It was an underwhelming rookie campaign for Turang, but things have been much better in 2024. The 24-year-old is hitting .294 with a 121 wRC+, which has been good enough to make Turang the Brewers’ primary leadoff hitter. Turang’s also stolen 16 bases — the third-most of any player in the league. He’ll draw a fantastic matchup this evening in the form of Quinn Priester ($5,700), as the RHP has surrendered a .611 slugging percentage to opposing LHBs throughout his brief career.

Jeremy Pena, Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics, $4,200 – There haven’t been many bright spots for the Astros this season, but Pena has been one of the few. The shortstop is hitting like it’s the 2022 playoffs again and he’s been especially effective in his matchups with LHPs. To wit, in 47 plate appearances within the split, Pena is slashing .391/.404/.652 with a 201 wRC+. With JP Sears ($6,100) and his career 1.53 HR/9 on the mound for the A’s on Tuesday, I’d expect to see Pena do some damage.

Kyle Manzardo, Cleveland Guardians at Texas Rangers, $2,200 – Manzardo’s first 20 plate appearances with the Guardians have not gone well, but it’s not as if the 23-year-old suddenly forgot how to hit. Prior to his call-up, Manzardo was punishing pitching in Triple-A to the tune of a .339 ISO and a .424 wOBA. Well… Good news! Jack Leiter is not a major league caliber pitcher at the moment. If there was a time for Manzardo to break out, it would be tonight. At this price, I’ll take my chances.
OUTFIELD

Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, $5,500 – Yelich hasn’t wasted any time since returning from a lengthy IL absence, as the former MVP has three multi-hit performances in the five games he’s played. That means, for the season as a whole, Yelich is slashing .350/.418/.650 with a 197 wRC+. Considering the aforementioned Priester’s struggles with LHBs, I’d say Yelich qualifies as a top option on this slate.

Wilyer Abreu, Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays, $4,000 – I think the Red Sox are going to score a lot of runs on Tuesday. It’s not just that Aaron Civale ($7,800) has struggled to a 5.88 ERA so far this season, it’s that he’s specifically had issues with LHBs. To wit, lefties are hitting .306 with a .397 wOBA off of the veteran. Boston has a lot of left-handed bats at its disposal. Abreu is one of them and he’s thrived against RHPs in 2024, posting a 164 wRC+ within the split. I’d suggest stacking a few Red Sox, but make sure to start with Abreu.

Mauricio Dubon, Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics, $3,200 – You want to be using Dubon against left-handed pitching. It’s that simple. For his career, Dubon owns an .807 OPS and a 122 wRC+ when facing LHPs. Versus righties? He’s sporting putrid marks of a .633 OPS and a 73 wRC+. With the Astros in possession of this slate’s highest implied team total, Dubon is a cost-effective asset to add to your stack.
