The 2024 NBA draft lottery will take place Sunday afternoon in Chicago as teams find out their fate for the June event. Even though there’s not a clear-cut top prospect in this draft class, having the top pick gives a team plenty of options when it comes to making moves. Here’s a look at the full lottery odds for every team with a chance at the No. 1 overall pick.
Lottery odds have become more even over the years, so the team with the worst record doesn’t always land the top selection. In fact, the last five lottery winners did not have the worst record at the end of the regular season. The Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards both have a 14% to win the lottery this year. Both are priced at +550 to win the lottery at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Next up are the Charlotte Hornets with a 13.3% chance to land the top pick, followed closely by the Portland Trail Blazers are 13.2%. The San Antonio Spurs, who won last year’s lottery to select Victor Wembanyama, have a 10.5% chance to make it back-to-back No. 1 picks. The Toronto Raptors (9%), Memphis Grizzlies (7.5%) and Utah Jazz (6%) round out the teams with a greater than 5% chance of winning.
The Brooklyn Nets come in next with a 4.5% chance to win the lottery, but they owe their first-round pick to the Houston Rockets. The Atlanta Hawks (3%), Chicago Bulls (2%) and Rockets (1.5%) are all above the 1% threshold when it comes to chances at winning. Houston’s pick goes to the Thunder if it is not in the top 4. The Sacramento Kings (0.8%) and Golden State Warriors (0.7%) have the lowest chances to win. The Warriors would convey their pick to the Trail Blazers if they do not land in the top four picks.
Those top four picks will be unveiled as part of the lottery, with the rest of the order following records. The Pistons, for example, cannot pick lower than fifth in the upcoming draft.
