The Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up their road series against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday with their ace Zac Gallen taking the mound against the American League’s top-scoring offense.

Since the start of the 2023 season, Gallen has performed far worse on the road than at home, posting a 4.47 regular season ERA on the road since the start of the 2023 season with 1.3 home runs per nine innings allowed compared to a home ERA of 2.19 with 0.5 home runs per nine innings allowed.
Gallen’s task is to hold down a lineup that entered the weekend averaging 1.54 home runs per game, which leads the league as no other team entered Saturday with more than 1.35 home runs per game, and the Orioles are hitting the deep ball with great lineup balance.
All eight Orioles hitters that entered Saturday with at least 61 at-bats all had at least five home runs this season as the team entered the weekend averaging 5.2 runs per game, and will need to be at full force with the way Arizona has been hitting.
The Diamondbacks entered the weekend seventh in the league with over 4.9 runs per game while ranking just 19th in home runs per game and will look to continue to move the line against Orioles starter Dean Kremer.
In Kremer’s last four starts, he has allowed three runs or fewer in all of them and has a 3.57 ERA this season, but there are signs of regression coming with his 4.71 fielding independent with most of Kremer’s struggles the past two seasons coming at home.
Since the start of the 2023 season, Kremer has a 3.26 ERA on the road with 8.9 strikeouts and 1.1 home runs per nine innings allowed compared to a 4.61 ERA with 7.6 strikeouts and 1.8 home runs allowed per nine innings at home in that span.
The Orioles entered Saturday 11th in the league in bullpen ERA with a mark of a 3.51 ERA while the Diamondbacks entered 24th with a 4.67 ERA.
With Kremer’s struggles at home and Gallen’s struggles on the road, plenty of runs will be scored in Baltimore on Sunday.
