St. Louis Cardinals at Milwauee Brewers
The Pick: Cardinals run line -0.5 through first five innings +100
Sonny Gray takes the hill tonight and looks to continue dominating in 2024. He’s made five starts, spanning 30.1 innings, allowing just three earned runs (six overall) on 21 hits and 38 strikeouts. Gray has not allowed more than two runs in a start and has left without allowing a run in three of them. The Brewers were the team that tagged him for two runs but Gray also struck out a season-high 12 in that game. On the other side of the ball will be rookie Tobias Myers, who’ll be making his fourth major league start. After allowing just one against the Pirates in his debut, Meyers has since given up eight runs on eight hits in eight innings against the Cubs and Yankees since. This is an extremely lopsided pitching matchup and one the Cardinals should be able to take advantage of.

Cleveland Guardians at Chicago White Sox
The Pick: Game Total under 4.5 runs through first five innings -115
This has the making of a low scoring game. You’d never think it by the names listed as tonight’s starting pitchers in Ben Lively and Erick Fedde. Lively hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of his four starts and currently has allowed exactly one run in three straight. This gives him an ERA of 2.08 and an xERA of 3.67. On the other side is Fedde, who has turned into a completely different pitcher since rejoining the MLB after spending time in the KBO. Fedde has a 3.46 ERA with a 3.67 xERA through 39 innings of work. His strikeout stuff has jumped dramatically going from a 6.6 K/9 in 2022 to a 9.4 this season. Looking at the the main pitch that Fedde throws, a sinker, the Guardians have not performed well against it. They’re slashing .192/.315/.359 with a 20% K%. I’m thinking this will not reach five runs by the time we enter the sixth inning.
