A spot in the Champions League final is on the line as Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund enter the second leg of their semifinal tie in the 2023-24 knockout round of the competition. Dortmund grabbed a 1-0 win last week at home to go up on aggregate but now have to stay ahead on the road against a well-rested PSG side hoping to make one final push for European glory as Kylian Mbappe’s departure looms.

It’s important to note the moneyline odds and results are for regular time only, so this match could still end up as a draw. PSG have had a week to review what went wrong in the first leg at Dortmund, while the German side did its best to manage players in a 5-1 win Saturday against Augsburg in Bundesliga action. Paris Saint-Germain are 9-6-1 at home this season and won the home group game between these sides 2-0 all the way back on the first match day. Dortmund are 8-6-2 on the road this season.
The biggest injury blow comes to PSG, who will be Lucas Hernandez after the defender tore his ACL in the leg. Layvin Kurzawa remains out for the French side. Meanwhile, the Germans are getting a boost with Sebastian Haller being named in the squad. We’ll see if the striker starts or comes off the bench for Borussia Dortmund.
Playing a home game against an opponent it should beat for a chance to go the final is typically a letdown spot for PSG. This club has choked away some big Champions League games but this year feels different. Mbappe, to his credit, has been all in in trying to deliver a trophy in his final season with the club. The way this knockout has shaken out has also worked in PSG’s favor. I could see this potentially going to extra time but I think PSG get the job at home and advance to the final.
