Despite every team being in action this evening, we’ve got ourselves a relatively small eight-game featured MLB slate on DraftKings. Things get going at 7:05 p.m. ET, with the Astros and the Yankees squaring-off in the Bronx.
Let’s break it all down and find some studs and values.

PITCHER
Stud
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Miami Marlins, $10,100 – I suspect Yamamoto will be an extremely popular play on this slate, but I can’t blame people for their bias. Yamamoto has been sensational in his last six outings, pitching to a 1.64 ERA and a 2.54 FIP across 33.0 innings. In that same span, the RHP also owns a 30.5% strikeout rate — a figure that implies Yamamoto’s high ceiling and validates his hefty price tag. Miami sits 29th in ISO (.112) and wOBA (.280). Yamamoto should make quick work of the Marlins’ underwhelming lineup.
Value
Bailey Ober, Minnesota Twins vs. Seattle Mariners, $7,600 – The Mariners have been hitting for some power the past couple weeks, yet they remain one of baseball’s best matchups due to their inflated strikeout rate. To wit, Seattle owns a 30.8% strikeout rate across the past 14 days — easily the highest rate in all of MLB. Let’s not also overlook Ober. After getting roughed up in his first outing of 2024, Ober’s maintained a 2.37 ERA and a 2.38 FIP over his last five starts. He’s rock solid and a 12.8% career swinging strike rate isn’t too shabby, either.
INFIELD
Stud
Ryan Jeffers, Minnesota Twins vs. Seattle Mariners, $4,600 – Don’t look now, but Jeffers is quietly becoming one of the best offensive catchers in all of baseball. Following a solid 2023 campaign, the backstop is currently posting a .272 ISO and a 167 wRC+ across his first 120 plate appearances of 2024. Meanwhile, Emerson Hancock ($6,200) has some nasty reverse-splits, with RHBs slashing .300/.338/.600 off the former first-round pick. Jeffers should be able to do some more damage on Tuesday.
Stud
Vinnie Pasquantino, Kansas City Royals vs. Milwaukee Brewers, $4,500 – It’s hard to overstate how poorly Colin Rea ($6,700) has fared with LHBs in 2024. Not only is the RHP allowing opposing lefties to hit 2.29 home runs per nine, but Rea’s .429 expected wOBA within the split is the second-highest qualified mark in the National League. Pasquantino hasn’t been amazing to start the season, yet he is left-handed. That’s enough on this slate.
Value
LaMonte Wade, San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies, $4,000 – As per usual, Wade is too cheap. The veteran is once again proving to be one of the league’s top platoon bats, as Wade is slashing .352/.472/.451 with a 175 wRC+ in his 89 plate appearances versus RHPs so far this season. Tonight’s opponent? Dakota Hudson ($5,000) at Coors Field. Unsurprisingly, Hudson has struggled in the altitude to begin 2024, as opponents have combined for a .442 wOBA in his three outings in Colorado. Woof.
Value
Brett Baty, New York Mets at St. Louis Cardinals, $2,900 – Baty has been a perfectly capable hitter against RHPs in 2024, posting a .728 OPS and a 118 wRC+ within the split. However, his viability is far more about price and matchup. Miles Mikolas ($6,000) continues to look absolutely cooked, with the veteran pitching to a 5.68 ERA and a 5.31 xERA across 38.0 innings. Mikolas has also surrendered 1.66 opponent home runs per nine in his seven starts this season.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Miami Marlins, $6,500 – Do I really even need to explain this? Ohtani is viable on any slate, but he’s even more tantalizing when he’s facing a right-handed starter with a 6.05 ERA. Ohtani’s recent results don’t hurt, either. The All-Star has 13 hits in his last six games. Four long balls in his last three games. He simply is not human. If you can afford him, don’t think twice about putting him in a lineup.
Stud
Michael Conforto, San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies, $5,100 – Conforto has some weird splits in 2024. Specifically, he’s hit left-handed pitching much better than right-handed pitching, owning a 148 wRC+ in left-on-left matchups. However, one thing that does track is that Conforto has thrived when the Giants play outside of the spacious Oracle Park. In 73 road plate appearances, Conforto sports a .265 ISO and a 137 wRC+. He’s probably licking his chops to play at Coors Field.
Value
Mike Tauchman, Chicago Cubs vs. San Diego Padres, $3,900 – Tauchman is locked into the two-spot in Chicago’s order at the moment and it’s easy to see why. The 33-year-old is slashing .278/.412/.454 with a 154 wRC+ in 119 plate appearances. Tauchman is also left-handed, which should help in his matchup with Randy Vasquez ($5,500). The RHP struggled with LHBs last season and that’s carried over to his limited work at the MLB level in 2024. Vasquez has faced nine lefties. They’ve combined to go 5-for-7 (.714) with two doubles, a home run, a walk and a HBP.
