Air Jordan 4 “Industrial Blue”: Sneaker Release Date, Price, Where To Buy

The Force is strong with this one, as a legendary OG Air Jordan 4 colorway returns on May the Fourth, albeit with technically a new color. The Air Jordan 4 Military Blue, now dubbed Industrial Blue, returns on Saturday for a retail price of $215.

This colorway, then known as Military Blue, was one of four original colorways of the Air Jordan 4 to drop in 1989. This release follows the Air Jordan 4 Bred Reimagined back in February in celebrating the model’s 35th anniversary, but truth be told, an anniversary isn’t needed to celebrate this model as it has remained one of the most popular Air Jordan models of all time. And, of course, the model was supported by another series of commercials featuring Spike Lee’s iconic Mars Blackmon.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 was initially worn on court by Michael Jordan during the 1988-89 NBA season for the Bulls, SNKRS notes that Jordan Brand has “reengineered this icon back to its original ’89 specs.” This likely means this drop has taken a page once again from last year’s very well-received Nike SB x Air Jordan 4, a drop which the brand said it did its best to get as close as it ever has to the OG 1989 shape. And that’s a very good thing.

Even with the change to “Industrial Blue,” this colorway has everything you remember from previous releases. The upper is composed of what SNKRS calls “premium Off-White leather, Neutral Grey nubuck and striking hits of Industrial Blue.” The Industrial Blue 4s have all your customary AJ4 things — iconic Nike Air branding on the back heel tab, the famous wings on the back toward the heel, the netting in the middle of the upper, the Jumpman Flight logo branding on the tongue as well as a unique lacing system that allows for a number of different lacing patterns. It’s everything you can ask for in an Air Jordan 4 in a colorway that is almost universally beloved.

To that end of being universally beloved, this should be a popular release. We’ve already seen a shock drop as well as exclusive access for select customers, which is a good sign that there should be a decent amount of supply. More good news for sneakerheads is that the Industrial Blue 4s current have an average sale price on StockX of $281 on a robust 5,979 sales, which is only slightly above retail. Maybe this is a sign that even if you take yet another L on SNKRS that these will be available to be had at a reasonable price. Certainly, the sneaker bubble has at the very least deflated, if not outright burst, since the pandemic highs of 2020. Then again, FOMO may set in once these fly off shelves and the price could rise. Only time will tell, and obviously it’s unlikely this shoe will wind up on clearance, so playing the waiting game like so many people did with the Air Jordan 1 Royal Reimagined probably isn’t a recipe for success. So, best of luck to all looking to pick up a pair!
