The MLB brings a loaded 15-game slate to Wednesday, May 1. With every team scheduled to be in action, weather permitting, there are plenty of player prop bets to look through to find the best lines. While it can be more volatile, many bettors enjoy trying and predicting which players are due to hit a home run. We suggest using maybe half a unit on these bets due to the inflated odds, and with that in mind, here are our best home run prop bets for Wednesday, May 1, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Best home run bets: Wednesday, May 1

Jose Altuve vs. Cleveland Guardians (+400)

Altuve has fared well against Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie so far in his career. Altuve is 5-9 with two doubles and two home runs against McKenzie. Altuve is batting .345 this season and has already launched seven dingers in 2024. McKenzie didn’t allow a home run in his last start but gave up one in each of his previous two starts. He has allowed a home run in three of his five starts this season.

Joey Meneses vs. Texas Rangers (+400)

Meneses hasn’t hit a home run this season and is due at the plate. He has a great chance to pick up his first of the season against Texas starter Andrew Heaney. In a small sample size, Meneses is 2-2 against him with a double and a home run. Heaney has allowed two home runs in back-to-back games, giving even more upside to the chance that Meneses sends one over the outfield wall.

Josh Bell vs. Colorado Rockies (+550)

Bell doesn’t have the benefit of playing at Coors Field for this game, as the Miami Marlins are at home. The switch-hitter has struggled to get going this year, hitting just .181 with three home runs. He gets the benefit of taking on Colorado starter Dakota Hudson, who enters with an 0-4 record and 6.57 ERA. Hudson has allowed a home run in three straight starts and while Bell doesn’t have a home run against him yet, he is 6-13 with four doubles so far in their matchups.
