Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain will meet once again in the 2023-24 Champions League tournament, although the stakes will be significantly higher this time around. After advancing out of the same group, the sides will now meet in the semifinal round with a spot in the title match on the line. PSG won the opening group stage match between the two sides 2-0. The sides played to a 1-1 draw in the second contest. These clubs also met in the round of 16 in 2019-20, with PSG winning 3-2 on aggregate.

After losing in the first leg of the quarterfinal round against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain have won four matches across all competitions. They blasted Barcelona 4-1 in the second leg to advance, and have scored 15 goals in those four matches. They most recently had a 3-3 draw in Ligue 1 play against Le Havre. Borussia Dortmund also pulled off a stunning comeback in the quarterfinal round, taking down Atletico Madrid 4-2 to advance. They have been inconsistent of late, defeating longtime rivals Bayern Munich and securing a 1-1 draw with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen but also losing to the likes of Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.
Mats Hummels is likely to be available for Dortmund, as are Marcel Sabitzer and Donyell Malen. Sebastian Haller and Ramy Bensebaini are still out. The German side will get Emre Can and Ian Maatsen back after both served Bundesliga suspensions. PSG don’t have any day-to-day issues, but Presnel Kimpembe and Layvin Kurzawa remain out.
PSG have never won outright against Dortmund in away games but definitely come into the contest with better form. However, Dortmund have played up to their competition recently and should have tremendous backing from their home crowd. I like a draw here in the first leg.
